On 06 March 2011, witnessed by state leaders, the Guangdong Provincial and Macao SAR governments co-signed the Guangdong–Macao Cooperation Framework Agreement in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

On 19 April 2011, the Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Cooperation between Guangdong and Macao (hereafter "GMTCM Park"), as the first project of cooperation between the Guangdong and Macao SAR governments, was officially inaugurated. This project not only strengthens the partnership between both governments, but also creates a new model of cooperation in the moderate economic diversification of Macao.
