Introduction (Resources and Advantages)

In September 2017, the Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Co-operation between Guangdong and Macao (“GMTCM Park”) was officially designated by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine as the “Public Service Platform of Traditional Chinese Medicine Products Overseas Registration (Hengqin)”; a state-level platform to promote the internationalization of the TCM industry. The Center of International Cooperation and Exchange (“CICE”) under GMTCM Park has set up the preliminary structure for the platform, planned basic principles and development strategies, analyzed its advantages and characteristics, developed operation models and long-term plans, and designed a business framework and personnel composition. GMTCM Park has established cooperation with government departments, research institutes and industry associations in the areas of phytomedicine and traditional medicine in countries and regions such as the EU, Africa and Asia, and assembled a team of experts from the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare (EDQM) and the drug evaluation center. In respect of platform building, GMTCM Park has developed sound cooperative ties and communication mechanisms with government departments, industry associations, research institutes, renowned hospitals, pharmaceutical distributors, experts and doctors in countries and regions from Africa, Europe and Asia. Currently, applications for international registration can be filed in Africa (phytomedicine, food supplements and medical devices), the EU (phytomedicine, food supplements, product regulations and market research), and Asia (phytomedicine and plant products).
